Turmeric. The Golden Herb's role in skincare regime

Turmeric. The Golden Herb's role in skincare regime

One of the most liberating things about organic skincare is the ingredients used and how they’re all completely natural. It’s amazing just how many botanicals we can get from precious Mother Nature and know that there are no chemicals in them!

One ingredient in particular - which in our eyes, is a superstar, is the mighty turmeric. It’s been used for many years to help heal many conditions, as well as being used for cosmetic reasons due to its wealth of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

So, what exactly is turmeric I hear you ask. Well, first of all it’s a spice that belongs to the ginger family and has been used in East India and the Middle East for thousands of years. It’s a very precious herb and is highly regarded as one of the most highly prized spices around! With its peppery flavour, it’s usually added to curries to give it a spicy and punchy kick. Ancient medicinal uses began when it was recognised as an anti-inflammatory agent and so it was used to treat conditions such as jaundice, menstrual problems, bruises and chest pain. Turmeric is made from the rhizone or root of the Curcuma Longa plant.

Turmeric also has extremely valuable properties for your skin too! It helps reduce redness because it’s an anti-inflammatory and if you suffer from dark circles under your eyes, then why not try using this herb because it can help reduce the appearance of those pesky fiends. As it’s packed full of antibacterial properties too, it can also disinfect the skin which will help to combat acne. Turmeric is so good, it can even help to diminish acne scarring and dark spots.

We’d also recommend drinking turmeric tea at night so that it can work effectively as you sleep. This way, your body will be getting a sufficient amount of antioxidants so that the tea can work its magic. Whilst organic skincare products can help aid with ailments, it’s important to remember that eating and drinking healthily also has benefits for your skin, so drinking turmeric tea is a great way to get natural goodness!

Turmeric is one of the many wonderful ingredients in our Acne Buster Herbal Face & Body Soap Paste, in which it deeply cleanses the skin to help draw out impurities which causes acne. It can affect your confidence if you’re not feeling great on the outside, so a step to regaining that confidence is looking after yourself from the inside and you can do this by incorporating turmeric into your lifestyle as much as possible and by using organic products. Another of our products which turmeric is used in is the Acne Buster Herbal Face Mask, helping to reduce redness, pus-filled breakouts and swelling! With turmeric, you can be confident in knowing that you’re using a magical ingredient which doesn’t contain any of those awful chemicals, but at the same time will help to improve the look and feel of your skin by giving it a deep clean and getting rid of spot inducing bacteria.

We hope that gives you some inspiration to start using turmeric as part of your skincare regime. It’s amazing how such natural ingredients can be powerful but not harm us!
